Overview
Predibase (2021) offered LoRA fine-tuning and multi-adapter serving (LoRAX) for open-source LLMs. Rubrik completed its acquisition in July 2025 for $109.1 million. Every Predibase address now redirects to Rubrik, and the hosted app's hostnames no longer resolve. The LoRAX serving framework remains open source.

Predibase was a strong choice for fine-tuning and cheaply serving many small open models, thanks to LoRAX. It is no longer something you can buy: Rubrik closed the acquisition in July 2025, used the technology for its Agent Rewind feature, and now redirects every Predibase page to Rubrik Agent Cloud, an AI-agent governance product with no self-serve fine-tuning.
If you need hosted fine-tuning, look at other providers. The open-source LoRAX server still works but has not had a tagged release since January 2025.
What we found
Predibase is no longer a product you can buy on its own. Rubrik announced the acquisition on 25 June 2025 and completed it in July 2025, not in February 2026 as this page earlier said. Rubrik's quarterly filing puts the purchase consideration at $109.1 million, made up of $14.5 million in cash and $94.6 million in Rubrik Class A stock, and Rubrik separately granted $40.4 million of restricted stock to Predibase staff, including the two founders. The $100 million to $500 million range reported at announcement came from unnamed sources.
Every Predibase address now points to Rubrik. predibase.com and its pricing page redirect to the Rubrik Agent Cloud product page, the documentation redirects to Rubrik's homepage and the blog to Rubrik's blog. On 12 October 2026 the hosted app and its API and serving hosts had no DNS address records, so the earlier claim that the platform still runs there no longer holds. We found no published shutdown notice, so former customers should ask Rubrik directly about their contracts.
Rubrik used Predibase's infrastructure for Agent Rewind, launched in August 2025 "following the close" of the deal, which records what AI agents do and rolls back destructive changes. Agent Rewind now sits inside Rubrik Agent Cloud alongside agent monitoring and governance. That is a governance product for AI agents, quoted by Rubrik sales; it offers no self-serve fine-tuning, and its product page does not mention LoRA or model serving.
The open-source pieces survive. LoRAX, the server Predibase built for running many LoRA adapters on a single GPU, remains Apache 2.0 on GitHub, though its last tagged release was in January 2025. Ludwig, the declarative machine-learning framework the founders worked on at Uber, now lives under its own ludwig-ai organisation and shipped v0.17.9 in August 2026. Teams that want hosted fine-tuning of open models will need another provider.
