Personal AI is no longer really a consumer product: the personal-memory app that defined it has gone quiet, and the company now sells small, cheap-to-run language models for telecom carriers to host AI agents on their own networks. Its cost and latency claims are striking but self-reported, and analysts see a crowded market. For individuals looking for a personal AI with long-term memory, other tools are better maintained; for carriers exploring on-network AI, it is one of the more specialised vendors to talk to.
What we found
Personal AI started in 2020 as a consumer app for building an AI version of yourself: a personal model trained on your own notes, messages and documents that could answer as you, with a memory system called Memory Core and a Persona Studio for creating AI personas. It has since repositioned around telecoms, and now builds what it calls a telco-optimised stack for AI agents on mobile carriers' networks, with no app to install, using small language models of a few hundred million to two billion parameters that run on the operator's own infrastructure. Its current model, MODEL-4, is deployed on a carrier's network under a single agreement covering deployment, licensing and support. The company claims a 15-millisecond time to first token and costs of $0.02 per million tokens against $0.80 for Google's Gemma-27B, and says the approach gives carriers 90% gross margins; these are its own figures.
In March 2026 it announced a collaboration with Comcast and NVIDIA, with trials at Comcast's Philadelphia headquarters that it says showed responses under 500 milliseconds and up to 40 times lower operating costs, and in June 2026 it joined HPE's partner programme with four bundled offerings. Fierce Network reported that it has disclosed work with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Comcast and expects a first US telco token plan within six to nine months; analysts quoted there, including Roger Entner of Recon Analytics, were sceptical about a crowded market.
Human AI Labs, Inc., the company behind Personal AI, was co-founded by chief executive Suman Kanuganti, who previously founded Aira, chief AI and technology officer Sharon Zhang and chief design officer Kristie Kaiser Sibal. It raised a $3.2 million seed round in 2021 and $7.8 million in seed capital in 2023.
There is no published pricing or free plan, and the pricing page routes to carrier briefings and sales. The consumer My AI app is still listed, but its iOS version was last updated in August 2025. It is now relevant mainly to telecom operators exploring on-network AI.
