Lexis+ with Protégé is one of the two dominant legal AI platforms, and its strength is grounding in LexisNexis's authoritative content with Shepard's citation checking, now with agentic drafting and secure document vaults, and local availability in Singapore and Malaysia. Accuracy still needs checking — an independent 2024 study found errors in more than one in six answers from its predecessor — and pricing is quoted per firm. A strong choice for firms already on LexisNexis; compare it with Westlaw's AI on your own matters before committing.
What we found
Lexis+ with Protégé is LexisNexis's AI-powered legal research and drafting platform. LexisNexis announced the Protégé assistant in August 2024 and in February 2026 renamed Lexis+ AI as Lexis+ with Protégé. The assistant answers legal research questions grounded in LexisNexis case law, statutes and Practical Guidance content across 25 practice areas, checks citations with Shepard's, and drafts and summarises documents; Protégé General AI also gives access to large language models from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic, while its legal mode blends several models. A May 2026 update added Protégé Work, agentic drafting, Shepard's Verify trust markers, shared Workrooms, document vaults of up to 100,000 documents and customer-held encryption keys, along with Anthropic-powered skills, rolling out globally through 2026. It integrates with iManage, SharePoint and NetDocuments, and LexisNexis says it never uses customer data to train AI models.
In Southeast Asia, Lexis+ AI with Protégé launched in Singapore and Malaysia in October 2025, and skills followed in Singapore in September 2026; LexisNexis also has an alliance with the Singapore Academy of Law covering the Singapore Law Reports. The business is part of RELX and headquartered in New York.
Accuracy has been studied. In May 2024 a Stanford study found the earlier Lexis+ AI gave hallucinated or misgrounded answers more than 17% of the time on its benchmark questions, against more than 34% for Westlaw's tool; that predates Protégé. LexisNexis cites Forrester studies it commissioned showing returns of 344% and 284%.

It suits law firms and legal departments, including in Singapore and Malaysia, that already rely on LexisNexis content.
