Devv has turned from a developer search engine into an AI app builder, and its pricing is clear — 300 free credits a month, then $25 for Pro — but the signs of activity are thin: no changelog entry since the August 2025 launch, a GitHub repository untouched since July 2024, a Team plan still on a waitlist and GitHub sync still "coming soon". Its claim to be the first full-stack AI coding agent does not hold up. Fine for a quick experiment on the free credits; for anything you plan to maintain, better-supported builders such as Bolt, Lovable or Replit are safer bets.
What we found
Devv began in 2023 as an AI search engine for developers, combining a vertical index of documentation and code with web and GitHub search, and was presented on Hacker News in May 2024. In August 2025 it relaunched publicly as an AI app builder: Devv Code, an agent that builds full-stack web apps with built-in language models, image and audio generation, background jobs, authentication, a database and email, and connects to OpenRouter for model access. The original search engine still runs at devv.ai/search, with web, search and GitHub modes and a model picker. Devv calls itself the first AI coding agent to build full-stack AI products, which earlier agents such as Devin, Bolt and Replit Agent contradict, and says more than 700,000 developers trust it; we could not verify that figure.
Activity has slowed. The public changelog's latest entry is the August 2025 launch, the open-source GitHub repository was last updated in July 2024, and a 2025 issue there asks whether the project is dead. Its terms name Index Labs as the operator, without an address; aggregators place it in Shanghai and report no outside funding, neither of which we could confirm.
The free plan gives 300 credits a month and up to three projects, and requires signing in; a search costs 10 credits. Pro costs $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly, for 2,500 credits, unlimited and private projects, custom domains, source-code export and removal of the Devv badge, with GitHub sync listed as coming soon. A Team plan at $49 a seat with pooled credits is still on a waitlist. Extra credits cost $10 per 1,000, falling to $320 for 40,000. You own what you build, but cancelling Pro switches off export, private projects and custom domains.
