CopilotKit has become a standard way to put AI agents inside a product rather than in a separate chat tab: generative UI, shared state and approval steps work across React, Angular, Vue and mobile, and its AG-UI protocol has been adopted by major cloud providers and agent frameworks. The SDK and protocol are MIT-licensed and actively maintained, and a $27 million Series A plus enterprise customers such as DocuSign and Cisco suggest staying power. The hosted platform is optional and reasonably priced — a free Developer plan, Pro at $39 a month and Team at $100 per seat — with Enterprise via AWS Marketplace. CopilotKit is an open-source toolkit for putting AI agents inside applications rather than beside them in a chat window. Its SDKs for React, Angular, Vue, React Native and web components provide chat and copilot interfaces, generative UI that lets an agent render components in your app, shared state between the agent and the interface, and human-in-the-loop approvals, connected to agent back ends in Python, .NET, Go or Ruby. The company also created AG-UI, an open protocol for how agents talk to front ends, which TechCrunch reports is supported by Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle and by frameworks including LangChain, Mastra, PydanticAI and Agno. Both the SDK and AG-UI are MIT-licensed, and CopilotKit ships releases almost daily.
CopilotKit, legally Tawkit Inc. and based in Seattle, was founded by Atai Barkai, its chief executive, and Uli Barkai. It raised a $27 million Series A led by Glilot Capital, NFX and SignalFire in May 2026, says it powers millions of agent-user interactions a week and four million weekly downloads, and names DocuSign, S&P Global, Cisco, Deutsche Telekom and Function Health as customers; it describes a large share of Fortune 500 companies as users. Newer products include Channels, which deploys the same agent to Slack, Teams, Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp, an Inspector for debugging, an analytics and "self-learning" layer called Intelligence in early access, and OpenBot, an open-source AI coworker.
The SDK is free to self-host. CopilotKit's hosted platform has a free Developer plan for one developer with 200 threads, three-day retention and 1 GB of storage. Pro costs $39 a month for 5,000 threads, five-day retention and 10 GB; Team costs $100 per seat a month for up to five seats, adding self-hosting of the full platform including its database, 25,000 threads and dedicated Slack support. Enterprise, sold through AWS Marketplace, adds on-premises deployment, unlimited threads, SLAs and engineering support. A leading choice for teams building agent-native product interfaces.
