From gross to take-home in Malaysia

A Malaysian payslip nets off four statutory items. EPF takes 11% of the full wage (below 60). SOCSO and EIS follow the official PERKESO band tables, capped at the RM6,000 ceiling — together usually under RM45 a month. PCB, the monthly tax deduction, applies once income clears the threshold.

This calculator composes all four: EPF at headline rates (the official Third Schedule may differ by a few ringgit), SOCSO/EIS from the embedded official 65-row tables (exact), and a simplified PCB estimate using the YA2025/2026 brackets with the standard reliefs.

Employer-side contributions (EPF 12–13%, SOCSO ≈1.75%, EIS 0.2%) are not deducted from your salary — they are the employer's own cost on top of it.

Age matters: from 60 the employee EPF share is zero, SOCSO becomes employer-only and EIS stops, so net pay rises. Non-citizen employees contribute EPF at the mandatory 2% + 2% since October 2025.

Scope: resident private-sector employees. Foreign-worker SOCSO, zakat, and reliefs beyond the standard set are not modelled — treat the result as a planning estimate, not a payroll substitute.

10 Facts About Malaysian Take-Home Pay

01

Four statutory deductions determine a Malaysian employee's net pay: EPF (11%), SOCSO (≈0.5%), EIS (0.2%) and PCB.

02

EPF is the biggest deduction — 11% of wages for employees below 60, computed on the full wage with no ceiling.

03

SOCSO and EIS are capped at the RM6,000 wage ceiling: the maximum employee deduction is only RM29.75 + RM11.90 a month.

04

PCB only kicks in above the income threshold — lower-paid employees' net is usually just wage minus EPF/SOCSO/EIS.

05

On RM5,000 a month (single, age 30): take-home is about RM4,307 — after EPF RM550, SOCSO RM24.75, EIS RM9.90 and roughly RM108 PCB.

06

Bonuses attract EPF and PCB, but NOT SOCSO or EIS.

07

Employer contributions (EPF 12–13%, SOCSO ≈1.75%, EIS 0.2%) are not deducted from your salary — they are an extra employer cost.

08

Employees 60+ stop contributing EPF (0% employee share) and SOCSO becomes employer-only — net pay rises noticeably.

09

Standard reliefs (individual RM9,000, EPF RM4,000, SOCSO+EIS RM350) make effective tax rates far lower than the bracket rates.

10

This calculator uses the official 65-row PERKESO/EIS tables; EPF is estimated at headline rates and PCB simplified — real payslips may differ slightly.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Net = gross monthly salary − employee EPF − SOCSO − EIS − estimated monthly PCB. Each component is shown separately in the results.
  • EPF — 11% of the full wage for employees below 60. SOCSO and EIS are far smaller because of the RM6,000 ceiling, and PCB depends on your income level and reliefs.
  • Bonuses attract EPF and raise annual tax (PCB), but not SOCSO/EIS. This calculator spreads the bonus tax effect as a monthly average.
  • Official EPF follows the Third Schedule (band table, not exact percentages) and official PCB uses LHDN's full formula. Differences are usually small. The SOCSO/EIS figures here ARE exact — from the official tables.
  • The employee EPF share becomes 0% (employer 4%), SOCSO switches to Second Category (employer-only) and EIS stops — net pay rises noticeably.
  • Yes for EPF (mandatory 2% + 2% from October 2025), but foreign-worker SOCSO follows a separate scheme not modelled; the tax estimate assumes resident status.
  • Individual RM9,000, EPF up to RM4,000, SOCSO+EIS up to RM350, spouse RM4,000 and RM2,000 per child (where selected). Other reliefs are excluded — actual tax may be lower.
  • No. Employer contributions are on top of your salary and paid straight to KWSP/PERKESO — they are not deducted from your monthly pay.
  • No — Budget 2026 kept the YA2025 individual rates.
  • No. All calculations run entirely in your browser — your salary and family details are never sent to any server or stored.
