27 SEP 2026 — DOKU, one of Indonesia's older online payment companies, now calls itself "DOKU by Antom" and has put co-founder Himelda Renuat in the chief executive role. Antom is the merchant payments business of Ant International, the Singapore-based group that operates Alipay+ outside China.
The announcement on 24 September says Antom has deepened its strategic investment in DOKU but gives no figure and no ownership stake.
Who is running it now
Renuat co-founded DOKU and was its chief marketing officer. She now holds two titles, the release says: chief executive of DOKU and head of Antom Indonesia.
Chris Yeo, chief executive since 2022, moves to head Antom Philippines. The release credits him with strengthening the organisation, growing transaction volume and establishing the partnership with Ant International.
"DOKU was built on almost 20 years of trust with our merchants, and that foundation isn't changing," Renuat said.
That double title matters. The person running DOKU also runs Antom's Indonesian business, so the two are harder to tell apart from the outside than the release suggests.
What stays the same
DOKU keeps its own name within the new one and continues to operate under its own licences, the release says, with Antom described as a strategic investor. The licences remain with the Indonesian company, so the rename does not move them.
DOKU says it serves more than 300,000 merchants and holds six Bank Indonesia payment licences. It describes itself as the first Indonesian company to reach the top level of the card industry's data security standard, PCI DSS Level 1. The merchants it names include TikTok, Google, Garuda Indonesia, Prudential and Trip.com.
How the partnership got here
The two companies have worked together since 2024, when DOKU's payment gateway began accepting Alipay from Chinese visitors. In February 2026 they announced a wider strategic partnership, which also brought in 2C2P, the Southeast Asian payment gateway that Antom owns.
The February plan covered helping Indonesian merchants sell abroad through Antom's network, giving foreign merchants access to DOKU's local payment methods, and working on multi-currency payments, cross-border processing, lending and treasury management.
Antom's chief executive, Gary Liu, called the rebrand "a natural next step in the partnership we announced earlier this year".
What the rename signals
A rebrand that puts the investor's name on the product is a stronger statement than a partnership. The release frames it as closer synergy and a consistent approach to merchants across DOKU, Antom and 2C2P.
For merchants, the practical question is whether anything changes at the checkout. The release promises a consistent go-to-market approach, which appears to mean shared sales and product offers, and says nothing about changes to fees or contracts.
What was not said
The release gives no stake, no price and no change to DOKU's board. A reader cannot tell whether "deepened strategic investment" means new money, a larger shareholding or both.
Those details would show up in Indonesian company filings, not in a press release. Until DOKU or Antom states them, the rebrand and the leadership change are the only confirmed parts.
