The Ten Gods (十神) are the core analysis layer of Chinese bazi metaphysics. Basic bazi gives you 4 pillars of 8 characters; but the Ten Gods explicate each character\'s relationship to the Day Master (you), turning the chart from raw symbols into a relational network.

10 Facts about Ten Gods
Formalisation of the Ten Gods is traditionally credited to the Yuanhai Ziping line of fate-reading manuals. Before it, bazi was read mainly through yin-yang and five-element strength; the Ten Gods layer moved analysis from "which element dominates" to "what relation this character holds to the day master".
The Day Master = the Heavenly Stem of your birth day. It is the single most important character in your 8-char chart; the other 7 are interpreted relative to it.
"Qi Sha (七杀)" has the most fearsome name but actually represents military/executive talent. Strong types thrive; weak types struggle under pressure. Many military/political figures have heavy 七杀 (e.g. Emperor Hongwu, founder of Ming dynasty).

How it computes
The four pillars are cast exactly as in the Bazi Chart Calculator, then each character is related back to the DAY STEM (日主) — the reference point of the whole system — to name its 十神 relationship. The relationship follows from the 五行 generating and controlling cycles together with whether the two characters share yin/yang polarity, so it is derived, not looked up.
What this tool implements
- The 十神 are computed against the day stem, which is the classical reference point; a chart read against any other pillar would not be a 十神 reading.
- Each relation follows from the 五行 生剋 cycles plus yin/yang polarity, so the same pair of characters always yields the same god.
- 早子時 (sect 2) is the default: the 23:00-00:00 hour is assigned to the CURRENT day. Under 晚子時 it belongs to the next day and the day pillar changes. A birth in that hour therefore reads differently between schools, and this tool follows the convention used by the majority of modern calculators so a reader comparing against another site sees the same chart.
