How Much of ISO 27001 Can You Actually Automate?

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 has 93 Annex A controls. Our 27 automated compliance checks cover 18 of them — not quite a fifth — and most of the gap is structural rather than lazy. Counting them also turned up two checks citing control identifiers from a revision withdrawn in 2022.

India's Largest GPU Cluster Is Being Built for an American Company

Up to 10,000 NVIDIA B300s at a Chennai campus, booked at Rs 10,000-15,000 crore. It is Together AI's second buildout in a week - and the power arithmetic in the announcement does not quite add up.

A Reporting Standard for Rogue AI Agents, Minus the Two Labs That Matter Most

Over 120 organisations have proposed SAFE, a common taxonomy and clock for reporting AI agent security incidents. It borrows aviation's model but has neither of the two things that make aviation reporting work - and OpenAI and Anthropic are not members.

Mozilla Revoked a Signing Key Nobody Stole. That Is the Correct Answer.

An unencrypted copy of the Firefox release-signing subkey was committed to a private repo. No evidence of misuse, everyone with access already held the key — and Mozilla rotated it anyway.

Can a Deleted File Be Recovered? We Erased the Whole Volume and Read It Back

We wrote a file marked so it could not be mistaken for anything else, deleted it, then erased the entire volume the way Disk Utility does — and every one of the 4,500 markers was still in the raw bytes on all three filesystems, with the sentence inside the file readable word for word. One volume came back empty, and it was empty before the delete.

Latency vs Bandwidth: Which One Are You Actually Waiting For?

Internet plans are sold in one number, and for most of what you do all day it is the smaller half of the answer. Asking one host for six payload sizes separates the two: a fixed cost of 218.6 ms and a throughput of 116.5 Mbps, both out of the same measurement. Ten thousand times the data cost 4.9 times the time.

Three Days to Patch. CISA's Deadline Used to Be Three Weeks.

Every vulnerability CISA catalogued in the first week of August carried a three-day federal deadline. We measured the catalogue's own dates, and the median has fallen from 21 days to three since February.

Why Is My PDF So Big? It Is Probably a Picture of Text

We built one A4 page both ways and weighed them. As text: 8,256 bytes, with 4,791 searchable characters. The same page scanned at 200 dpi: up to 703,029 bytes, of which 99.5 per cent is the image, and zero characters extractable. The surprise is that storing the scan losslessly beat every JPEG we tried.

You Patched SonicWall in Three Days. That May Not Have Been Enough.

Ransomware crews are now chaining two SonicWall SMA1000 flaws that CISA gave federal agencies three days to fix. If your gateway was reached at root, patching closed the door and left the keys outside.

Why Is My Disk Full? Every Tool Is Answering a Different Question

The same 494 GB drive reports 6 per cent used, 53 per cent used and 56.3 per cent used depending on what you ask — and all three are correct. Measured on one machine: the volume most people check is the sealed system you cannot write to, 2.7 GB sits on no volume at all, and one file claims to be 494.4 GB while occupying 73.1.
